Weeks ago, we were getting an idea that the Eagles would be looking at a Wide Receiver in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. And now DeSean Jackson is a Washington Redskin. So now what are we thinking? Maybe we need a Receiver in the first AND the third. It's a terrible situation, considering we were hoping the Eagles would break every offensive record in 2014. But, whats done is done and it's time to move on and look toward 2014. With the Draft being almost a month away, as always we'll be breaking it down. Here's a look at some potential WRs the Eagles might have an eye on.
Marqise Lee, Southern Cal
Chip Kelly is all too familiar with Marqise Lee as he's coached against him twice. In those two career games, Lee racked up 20 catches for 344 yards and 3 touchdowns. At 6'0 192 pounds, Lee is on the small side for Wide Receivers, but he makes up for it with quickness. The Eagles and Lee, have already met three times this off season, he's a player to keep an eye on at 22.
Allen Robinson, Penn State
On Tuesday, Chip Kelly attended the Penn State pro day to watch prospect Allen Robinson. Robinson is a big receiver at 6'3 220, but showed his underrated explosiveness at his pro day. According to NFL.com's Gil Brandt he posted a 42 inch vertical, 11 foot broad jump and ran under a 4.5 40. Explosiveness he showed in the 4th quarter, when he had a 65 yard run after the catch touchdown in Ohio State's 63-14 rout of his team. Robinson, might be too high of a pick for 22 and probably won't be around for 54.
Odell Beckham Jr, LSU
Beckham Jr, is the type of player we believe would be a perfect fit for the Eagles...if he's still there at 22. At 5'11, 200, Odell isn't the biggest receiver in the draft, but he plays big. Beckham Jr, is a quick craft receiver that isn't afraid to go over the middle. He's quick out of his cuts and his excellent vision makes him extremely dangerous with the ball in his hands. Not only just a great receiver but a willing blocker and also a good return man. The stock for Beckham has gone up as of late, so there's a chance he's gone by 22. If he's still available, I think the Eagles pull the trigger as there might not be a higher ranked player on the board at the time.
Cody Latimer, Indiana
Latimer is another big receiver (6'3 215), that the Eagles have shown interest in, having him in for a private workout. Latimer showed off his speed at his pro day, running a 4.44 and also recording a 39 inch vertical. Although, he went for over 1,000 yards last year, Latimer is still a project of a Wide Receiver. There are a lot of different opinions on this kid throughout the league, I think he has more of a 3rd or 4th round grade.
